Femmes  Femmeset pouvoir d'agir is the theme of the 2018 Marc Choko Grant competition at UQAM. This is my poster submission.

The Idea Behind the Concept

— Marc Choko

The Concept

The direction I took for the poster was to tackle the stereotyping of women. This was represented in the pink dress. Burning it on display clearly connoted womens' power to change this stereotype.

The Photo

The photo was shot using a single strobe in a forest. The dress was hung on a rope from a coat hanger and covered with lighter fluid, then set ablaze. Retouching the photo was a process as fire isn't exactly easy to manage.
